Costco, Walmart, and Other Stores Just Pulled More of This Peanut Butter
Jif peanut butter is being pulled from Costco, Walmart, and other stores nationwide due to a Salmonella epidemic.
Recalled products were sold in U.S. and Canadian supermarkets, where peanut butter is now being taken from shelves out of caution. No
infections have been confirmed in Canada since the Canadian Food Inspection Agency's recall announcement yesterday.
However, the CDC reports 14 Salmonella infections from peanut butter in 12 states in the US.
Salmonella can cause life-threatening illnesses in children, the elderly, and individuals with compromised immune systems.
Salmonella infections in healthy persons cause fever, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, and abdominal pain.
FDA worries that customers may keep unused contaminated peanut butter in their cabinets. Consumers should check their cupboard for recalled peanut butter
Retailers and other venues nationwide sold the recalled peanut butter. Products with lot codes 1274425–2140425 are recalled. Lot codes and best-if-used-by dates are included.
